Each to their own and live and let live and all that .... but I was wondering .... why would a Catherine call herself Kate? (See Middleton) Surely it's more obvious to be called Cath, therefore a Katherine or a Kathleen would adopt the name Kate/Katie.
In the same vein, (and in the Mouse book) a Rosemary should be called Rose and not Ros; otherwise it's a COMPLETE change of name! How bizarre; and why is a William, Bill? And why is Prince Harry called Henry? If you wanted to call him Harry ... CALL HIM HARRY! Derrr!

I am with you on people being registered one name but being called another, My Mum was Kathleen but called Pam and my Dad is Henry but known as Roy.
